Studio Policy Reminders
CLEANING SESSIONS & PRIVATE LESSONS TUITION
Tuition for a cleaning session or private lesson with an instructor is due upon booking of the session. Cleaning sessions or private lessons canceled with fewer than three days notice are forfeited and will not receive an account credit or be rescheduled; cleaning sessions or private lessons canceled with more than three days notice will receive a full account credit.
MAKE-UP CLASSES
Fall-Spring Session: Missed dance classes may be made up in any other dance class of an appropriate level during the same season in which the missed class occurred; a maximum of 5 make-up dance classes is allowed. Makeups must be scheduled in advance. If a class is full, you will be added to the makeup wait list. Notifying the studio of your child's planned absence in advance is incredibly helpful so that we can open up space for students on the makeup wait list.

Our Community
This summer, DMA students brought their passion and artistry to the heart of New York City with a series of unforgettable performances at Anita’s Way, a dynamic public space nestled between Times Square and Bryant Park. Against the backdrop of the city’s electric energy, these young dancers showcased their talent in multiple performances that captivated passersby and dance lovers alike.
Beyond the stage, the students immersed themselves in the full NYC experience by taking master classes with renowned instructors, attending Broadway shows that inspired and challenged their artistic perspectives, and exploring the city’s cultural gems, from iconic landmarks to hidden local favorites.
A highlight of the trip was the opportunity to perform alongside professional dancers from Trifecta Dance Collective, two of whom are also DMA faculty members. This collaboration offered students a rare chance to share the stage with seasoned artists, deepening their understanding of performance and professionalism in a real-world setting.
From dancing in the streets to soaking in the magic of Broadway, DMA’s NYC adventure was a transformative journey that celebrated growth, connection, and the power of artistic expression.
Our students took bold steps toward growth, adventure, and artistry this summer by immersing themselves in intensives across the country that challenge and inspire. We love watching them stretch, evolve, and shine in new environments. We checked in to hear how these experiences inspired them, and here’s what they had to say...
“I enjoyed attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for the first time this summer because the teachers really pushed me to try my best.” -Audrey E.
“I came to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp expecting nothing but dance, but it ended up being way more. I made lifelong friends I never would’ve met if I hadn’t done it, and made so many memories that I will cherish forever. Blue Lake was such a fun camp.” - Zoe R.
Parker S. had an incredible summer sharpening her skills alongside some of the industry's top talent, including Broadway powerhouses Sarah Meahl, Samantha Pauly, and Kara Lindsay!
Making Friends at DMA!
Dance & Music Academy is a community of students, families, and instructors with a passion for dance, music, and theater. DMA is so much more than just a studio, it is a home where friendships blossom and passions ignite. The studio holds a legacy of creating lifelong friendships through its unique programming and ample opportunity for students to connect, bond, and celebrate art with one another. However, it can be intimidating at the start of a new season to reach out and make new connections (or rekindle old ones) with fellow DMA students. Luckily, we have some great ideas to help navigate the new season!
How do I make friends in class?
1) Wear your best accessory- a smile!
Approach the class with a positive attitude and a friendly smile. Smiling is a universal signal of approachability.
2) Introduce yourself to your classmates!
When you see someone new or standing alone, take the initiative to introduce yourself. A simple "Hi, I'm [Your Name]" is a great way to start.
3) Start a conversation during a break!
During breaks, strike up casual conversations. Ask about their dance background, interests, or how they're enjoying the class.
Pro tip!
Active listening: Pay attention when they're talking, and remember details about their lives. This demonstrates your genuine interest.
Be Patient and Open!
Not all connections will become close friendships immediately. Making friends takes time and effort. Be authentic, kind, and considerate, and don't be discouraged if not every interaction leads to a lifelong friendship. The key is to enjoy the process of connecting and sharing your passion for dance and music. Also, understanding that ALL relationships have ups and downs is key to keeping the bigger picture in mind.
“Be supportive and be yourself!”
Longtime DMA student Yutong knows that making friends in the studio starts with showing up with an open heart and a positive attitude. Her advice to new dancers? Jump into group activities and conversations whenever you can; it’s a great way to connect. Even when things don’t go your way, staying upbeat helps create a welcoming vibe that others gravitate toward. Yutong also encourages dancers to compliment their peers when they notice something they like, whether it’s a cute hairstyle, a fun outfit, or a creative makeup look. Little moments of kindness go a long way. Most importantly, she reminds everyone to be themselves. Authenticity is what builds real connections, and when you’re true to who you are, friendships naturally follow.
