Why DMA?

What makes DMA different is our connection to the professional performing arts community.

Through our partnership with Phosphorescent Theatrical Productions, students have access to opportunities rarely found in a traditional studio, including:

  • Semi-professional musical productions

  • Workshops with NYC casting directors

  • Exclusive auditions with a Chicago SAG-AFTRA talent agency

  • Professional vocal coaching

  • On-camera acting training

  • Private coaching for auditions and self-tapes

Students don't just learn how to perform—they experience what it's takes to work in today's theatre and entertainment industry.

  • Theatrical Dance

Every great performer needs a strong dance foundation. DMA offers a variety of theatrical dance classes that prepare students for musical theatre productions, auditions, and performance opportunities.

From jazz and beginning tap to musical theatre dance and performance technique, students build confidence, versatility, stage presence, and the movement skills needed to succeed on stage.

  • Voice Lessons

Private instruction focused on healthy vocal technique, musicianship, audition preparation, and performance.

Private Lesson instructors can be found on our faculty page.

  • Acting & On-Camera Training

Students develop the acting skills needed for both stage and screen while building confidence for auditions, performances, and on-camera work. In addition to strengthening their craft, aspiring actors learn industry fundamentals such as audition techniques, self-tape preparation, and what to expect when pursuing professional opportunities.

For students interested in taking the next step, DMA also provides guidance on navigating the industry, including opportunities to connect with talent agents and learn about professional representation.

  • Semi-Professional Productions & Broadway Bound Dance Company

Students have the opportunity to perform in fully produced musical theatre productions alongside experienced performers, gaining valuable real-world performance experience.

Introducing Broadway Bound, DMA's newest performance company for students passionate about musical theatre. Developed in partnership with Phosphorescent Productions, Broadway Bound provides advanced training and performance opportunities for students looking to take their acting, singing, and dance skills to the next level. It's an exciting new pathway for performers ready to grow beyond the classroom and experience the world of musical theatre.

  • Master Classes & Industry Experiences

Learning at DMA goes beyond our own classrooms. Throughout the year, students have opportunities to train with Broadway performers, professional actors, choreographers, casting professionals, and other accomplished artists through master classes, workshops, and special educational experiences. Whether hosted at DMA or in professional settings beyond the studio, these opportunities expose students to new perspectives, industry insight, and experiences that inspire artistic growth.

  • Showchoir

Show Choir combines singing, dancing, and performance into one exciting ensemble experience. Students develop vocal technique, musicality, stage presence, and performance confidence while learning how to perform as part of a group.

Through energetic choreography and engaging repertoire, students strengthen their skills as well-rounded performers while building teamwork, creativity, and confidence both on and off the stage.
