Our Community

DMA is once again accepting dance donations for refugee families in need who wish to dance. Thank you to longtime DMA student Tasha P. for spearheading this initiative. Items can be dropped off at either location.

Our students had an incredible time performing their routines one last time at Starz Dance Competition Nationals at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin. It was inspiring to see DMA dancers showcase not only their technical and artistic growth, but more importantly, their camaraderie and unwavering support for one another on and off the stage

Our first month of Summer Camps was packed with laughter, learning, and plenty of unforgettable moments! We’re off to a strong, and seriously fun, start to summer.

Matilda was a smash hit! Our semi-professional camps bring young performers and theatre professionals together for an inspiring experience, equipping students for future opportunities in the performing arts and theatre.

At DMA, we love celebrating the accomplishments of our students, whether in dance, theatre, modeling, singing, or other exciting commercial and concert opportunities. We believe our programming helps students refine their craft and gain the confidence to shine beyond our studio walls. DMA WORKS!

This month, we are proud to congratulate:

  • Adeline R. on being cast in a lead role as Bielke in Fiddler on the Roof with Music Theatre Works.

  • Aubrey R. on being cast in a lead role as Shprintze in Fiddler on the Roof with Music Theatre Works.

  • Charlotte K. & Josephine K. on being cast as part of the Youth Ensemble and as Understudies in Fiddler on the Roof with Music Theatre Works.

  • Bianca E. & Archer G. on receiving scholarships to ARTS Summer 2025 with Applause International.

  • Emerson S. on booking two commercials and receiving a scholarship to ARTS Summer 2025 with Applause International.

  • Parker S. on booking a print job and receiving a scholarship to ARTS Summer 2025 with Applause International.

  • Yu-Tong G. on booking a print campaign.

  • And, Olivia M. on booking her first professional show as Pepper in Big Noise Theatre's production of Annie.

We’re proud to see our students recognized for their talent and dedication as they take steps toward exciting professional opportunities!

Kickstart Your Comeback

Balance, Brilliance, and Being Your Best

Summer may be sizzling, but we’re already anticipating the ringing of back-to-school bells! Summer will wind down before we know it, and our students will have to prepare to synchronize their calendars, mindsets, and dance bags! At DMA, we believe our students are more than just dancers, singers, musicians, and artists. Our DMA students are leaders in the making, and they are juggling everything from academics to rehearsals and performances to family time, and we hope to help our students find a balance that lets them thrive.

A successful season starts with a solid plan! Whether you prefer a digital calendar, a trusty agenda, or a simple notebook, find a planning tool that works for you. Use it to map out school commitments, rehearsals, and creative time. Viewing your week at a glance makes it easier to spot conflicts, create balance, and schedule that all-important downtime. And don’t underestimate the power of color-coding! Assign different colors to school, dance, family, and fun to keep your schedule beautifully organized.

Set small, achievable goals each week for your schoolwork and performing arts classes. That might mean memorizing the first page of lines for your upcoming musical, reviewing choreography for the opening section of your group routine, or tackling that book report before the deadline creeps up. Focus on showing up consistently, rather than aiming for perfection. Those steady steps taken week after week add up to big accomplishments by the end of the season.

Make time for you. It’s easy to feel like every hour has to be productive, but rest is productive, too. Schedule in time to read, walk, stretch, nap, or do absolutely nothing. Balance doesn’t mean squeezing more in; it means giving space to what fuels you. Don’t underestimate the power of a breather to recharge your focus and performance.

Communication is key. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, don’t keep it bottled up; talk to someone. Whether it’s a teacher, director, or family member, the people around you want to support you; they just need to know when and how. There’s no shame in asking for help, and sometimes, a quick five-minute chat can lighten the load more than you’d expect.

And remember, you’re never alone. Partner with a classmate to study, stretch with a fellow dancer, or check in with a friend when things feel off. The DMA community is here for you; on stage, in the studio, and beyond.

As we head into a new school year, know this: you’ve got the tools and talent to make it extraordinary. Most importantly, you have got an entire community of DMA dancers, families, and faculty who are here to help!
